Annie Grace Hale, residing in South Bend, passed away at 1:19 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN after an unexpected illness. She was 85 years old.
She was born April 15, 1932 in Forrest City, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Clifton & Janine (Armstrong) Nichols, and has lived in South Bend since 1956, coming from Forrest City.
On November 26, 1949 in Parkin, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Charles Hale. They have enjoyed nearly 68 years of marriage. Along with her loving husband Charles, she is survived by seven children, Jimmy (Linda) Hale of Lakeville, IN; Kenneth (Shelly) Hale of LaPaz, IN; Peggy A. Gentry of South Bend, IN; Johnny (Autumn Smith) Hale of Plymouth, IN; Mark (Diane) Hale of Lakeville, IN; Timothy (Karen) Hale of Bremen, IN; and Darrell (Misty) Hale of Plymouth, IN; as well as eighteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Sister Hale is also survived by three siblings, Louise Webb of Calico Rock, Arkansas; Bill (Betty Sue) Nichols of Forrest City, Arkansas; and Blanche (Archie) Carter of Harrison, Arkansas, a sister-in-law, Lola Harper of Palm Bay, Florida; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Andrew Hale, and seven brothers and sisters, Eugene, Donald, Venita, Mattie Lee, Buck, Lorine, and Maxine.
Sister Hale was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved to take care of her family. Her husband, children, and church were her life. She loved flowers, and was an excellent cook. She was a pastor’s wife in LaPaz for 39 years.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Pentecostal Apostolic Church, 59366 Mayflower Road, South Bend.
Services celebrating the life of Sister Annie Hale will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at the Pentecostal Apostolic Church. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Contributions honoring Sister Hale may be offered to Pentecostal Apostolic Church.
