Barbara Ann Altic, 85, residing in South Bend, passed away at 8:30 pm Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Healthwin Specialized Care. She was born July 11, 1929 in Ft. Wayne, IN to the late Emir and Helen Yoder. Barbara moved to the South Bend area in 1952, coming from Franklin, IN, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education at Franklin College.

Barbara was a long time member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. She was a teacher at Twin Branch School in Mishawaka and substitute taught at all South Bend Community Schools for many years. She was also a private tutor in her home. Barbara co-owned and operated “Naturally Wood” furniture store in Mishawaka with her husband.

On July 26, 1952, Barbara married Claris E. Altic, who preceded her in death on November 4, 2008. She was also preceded by her only sister, Ruth Ellen Fritz. Barbara is survived by her children, Dennis E. (Laura) Altic of Marshall, MI, William S. (Diane) Altic of Mars, PA and Beverly A. Sult of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Shannon and Benjamin Altic, Danielle Altic, and Travis and Emily Sult; and great grandchildren, Daphnee Altic and Isaac, Bryson and Leisia Pigee.

Memorial services for Barbara will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, 115 S. Frances Street, South Bend, IN, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
