MISHAWAKA – Bessie E. (Atkins) Fielder, 65, passed away unexpectedly at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 24, 2015 at her home.

Bessie was born on December 29, 1949 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Clennie and Marie (Seacrest) Atkins. 

On December 2, 1967 in South Bend, she was united in marriage to Billy C. Fielder, who survives.  Bessie cherished her role as a homemaker for her wonderful family.  She was a woman of God and faithfully attended First Baptist Church, Mishawaka, where she was a member for over 25 years.  Her family meant the world to her and nothing brought more happiness to her than her children and grandchildren.  Bessie and Billy recently celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary.

Bessie is survived by her husband, Billy C. Fielder of Mishawaka; sons, Brian Fielder of Mishawaka, Todd (Krystina) Fielder of Osceola; nine grandchildren, Clint, Joshua, Megan, Zachary, Misty Mae, Tanner, Blake, Trevor and Carter; sisters, Katherine Smith, Karen Pyburn, Juanita (Tom) Myers and Dolly Blocher; brother, Ronnie (Mary) Atkins; sister-in-law, Diane (Rick) Rieff. 

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, Clennie and Marie Atkins; daughter- in-law, Lori Fielder; brothers, Adron, Charile and Clarence Atkins.

Funeral services for Bessie will be at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615 with Pastor Peter Jones, First Baptist Church, Mishawaka, officiating.  Graveside services will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.  Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.  Online condolences may be offered to the Fielder family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
