Betty S. Caldwell, 70, residing in Buchanan, MI, passed away at 7:20 am Friday, October 3, 2014 at home. She was born June 4, 1944 in Elkhart, IN to the late James G. and Lillian M. (Hicks) Louis. On March 23, 1996 in Mishawaka, IN, Betty married Richard L. Caldwell, who preceded her in death on November 11, 2003. She was a lifelong resident of the South Bend area prior to moving to Buchanan several years ago with her son.
Betty worked in customer service for the Philadelphia Candy Company.
Betty is survived by her sons, Randy (Tracy) Stutesman of Buchanan, MI, Jeffrey (Jennifer) of Osceola, IN, Darren (Cindy) Stutesman of Mishawaka, IN and Nathan Detwiler of Elkhart, IN; grandchildren, Joshua (Shelly Hans) Stutesman, Kyle (Kate) Stutesman, Nathan Schimes, Trey Stutesman, Keely (Matt) Maurer, Dan (Kate) Stoll and Bryson Stutesman; as well as seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Merle McLean of Florida. She was preceded in death by her other siblings, Helen Louise, Ray, Gerald, Arthur and Donald McLean.
Special thanks to close friend, Sharon Butts for all of her loving care during this time in Betty's life.
Funeral services for Betty will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, October 6, 2014 in the Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, with Rev. Bob Vale officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family for two hours prior to services in the funeral home.
