Betty June (Troup) Comer

MISHAWAKA - Betty June Comer, “Grandma Cinnamon,” 85, passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born on November 23, 1930 in Osceola, Indiana to the late Lloyd E. and Helen C. (Hunsberger) Troup and had been a lifelong area resident, graduating from Jimtown High School. 

On September 11, 1948 in Mishawaka, Indiana she was united in marriage to Richard L. Comer, who preceded her in death in 1994. Betty worked for many years in circuit control panel wiring for Excel Corporation, retiring in 1995. During her time there she became part of the Local Indiana Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #1760. She was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post #360, Mishawaka and for many years was part of the Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Connie Hiller of Mishawaka; son, Jack (Pamela) Comer of Edwardsburg, IN; grandchildren, Jodie Gallaway, Steven Comer and Pete Comer; great-grandchildren, Christian Workman, Matthew Workman and Nelson Cooper Gallaway; and sister, Annabelle Dobbins of Casa Grande, AZ. She was preceded, in death by her parents and brother, Jay Troup.

Funeral services for Betty will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615, with one hour of visitation prior to service. Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, South Bend, IN. Per Betty's request, everyone is to come in comfortable and casual attire. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor Light Hospice, 1608 E. Day Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545.
