Byron C. Baldwin, 80, of South Bend, IN passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in his home.  Byron was born on February 17, 1936 in Baltimore, MD to the late Byron and Helen (King) Baldwin.  On December 30, 1982 in Plant City, FL Byron married Judith A. Baldwin, who preceded him in death on September 9, 2011.

Byron is survived by his daughters, Debra KelJenkins of Kalamazoo, MI; Donna Burdick of Stevens Point, MI and Denise Baldwin of South Bend, IN; sons, Danny Baldwin of San Diego, CA and Dale Baldwin of Casa Grande, AZ; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sisters, Jacqueline, Helen Edwards, and Barbara Pullano; his brother, Jay Baldwin and his cousin, Sherley Baldwin.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister, Betty Flint.  

Byron served his country as a Private in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.  He was a Traffic Administrator for Sundstrand Corporation for 30 years until his retirement.  Byron was a member of the San Diego Sheriff’s Department involved in Search and Rescue, retiring as a Sergeant on the force, where his daughter, Deb, retired his badge.  He was President of Solar Transportation Club and the first man allowed to be in an official capacity of the San Diego Imperial Girl Scouts as a first aider and outdoorsman.

Byron loved riding motorcycles, camping, working with youth, training search and rescue dogs, working with computers, including designing software, woodworking and working on the family car.

Keeping with Byron’s wishes, there will be no services.  Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery.  Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.  Contributions in memory of Byron may be made to the charity of choice.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
