Carol E. (Miller) Braden

Carol E. Braden, 91, of Oxford, FL, formerly of South Bend, IN passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Mission Oaks Assisting Living Facility in Oxford, FL.   She was born on February 9, 1924 in South Bend, IN to the late Isaac Frank and Lillie Angeline (Palmer) Miller.   She was united in marriage on April 10, 1942 in South Bend, IN to James Albert Braden who preceded her in death on September 27, 2008.

Mrs. Braden is survived by two daughters, Dr. Vicki J. Sharp of The Villages, FL and Dawn Marie (Robert) Liszewski of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, Kim Lemna, Robin Allen, James Allen, Aaron Allen, David Dinn, Katie Stanfield and Dr. Robert Dinn; twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.   She was preceded in death by her son, James Albert Braden, Jr., three sisters, Virginia Shoemaker Powell, Hildred Widener and Joyce Agler; three brothers, Richmond Miller, Vernon Miller and Victor Miller and son-in-law, Dr. William Sharp.

Mrs. Braden was a lifelong resident.  She served as chief deputy city clerk for the city of South Bend for 11 years and also served as Executive Director at Madison Center for four years. She also was a floral designer.  Mrs. Braden was a member of the Southlawn United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.  She was a member of Sigma Alpha Sorority, National Philanthropic and past president of the Ladies Avalon Grotto Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN where Rev. Lauren Hall will officiate. Gravesides services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, South Bend, IN.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to funeral services.
