Carolyn Martin Obituary
Carolyn L. Martin, 84, residing in Mishawaka, passed away peacefully at 12:33 am Monday, March 19, 2018 in The Waterford at Edison Lakes Assisted Living Community. She was born December 10, 1933 in Brimfield, IN to the late Russell and Bessie (Gillespie) Loutzenhiser.
On September 19, 1953 in South Bend, Carolyn married Robert Martin, who preceded her in death, after 62 years of marriage, on November 29, 2015. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Martin) Sharp of Edwardsburg, MI; sons, Robert (Ronda) Martin, Jr. of Niles, MI and Douglas (Terry) Martin of Edwardsburg, MI; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by two brothers, Jack (Ellen) Loutzenhiser of Mishawaka and Lynn (Patricia) Loutzenhiser of South Bend. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Beverly Wincek, Janice Fields, Phyllis Burkett and Monalou Eaton; and two brothers, Russell Loutzenhiser, Jr. and Richard Loutzenhiser.
From 1968-1996, Carolyn and Robert lived on Eagle Lake in Edwardsburg, Michigan. From 1996-2009, they lived in Bonita Springs, FL, where they had wintered for many years.
Carolyn was a beautician at Annabelles Hair Styles, from which she retired in 1991 after 35 years.
Memorial services for Carolyn will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 22, 2018 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Chaplain Sunday Adelakin of Heart to Heart Hospice will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 - 2:00 pm Thursday in the funeral home prior to services.
The family would like to give special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and the staff at The Waterford at Edison Lakes for their excellent care and kindness.
