Chelcie Samuel Shell

February 11, 1951 ~ February 1, 2016 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Chelcie Samuel Shell, 64, of Michigan City, Indiana passed away 3:45 PM Monday, February 1, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Mishawaka, IN.  Mr. Shell was born in Richmond, Indiana on February 11, 1951 to Chelcie Shell Jr. and Barbara L. (Crossley) Shell.  Chelcie moved to Michigan City in 2002 to be with his soul mate, Barbara Stahoviak Otto.  In Richmond, he was a certified Auto CAD Instructor at IU East and Ivy Tech.

While in the USAF, he followed in his father’s footsteps becoming a cartographer (map maker).  Finishing his military career assisting NASA with maps of the moon.  He was an avid reader and life-long Cincinnati Reds fan.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Shell of Richmond, Indiana; his love, Barbara Otto of Michigan City, Indiana; and his sister LeeAnn (Marc) Poland of New Carlisle, Indiana.  Also surviving are his niece, Shaina Poland of Mishawaka and nephews, Marcus and Caleb Poland of New Carlisle. 

Chelcie (also known as Sam and affectionately known as Uncle Sammy) was deeply loved by his family and the love of his life.  He will always be deeply missed.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Palmer Funeral Home – River Park in South Bend, Indiana.  Mr. Shell has been cremated a family service has been held.  Online condolences for the family may be left at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
