Mr. Chester L. Myrick, 85 of South Bend, Indiana passed away in his residence on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 . He was born March 10, 1930 in Parma, Missouri to the late Harry and Zena (Crowell) Myrick. On April 12,1962, in Elgin, IL, he was united in marriage to Betty Myrick who preceded him in death on May 3, 1989.
Mr. Myrick is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Raymond Sr.) Ferguson of South Bend, IN; sisters, Wanda (Wayne) Holzhauser, Doris (Charles) Bagby, Shirley (Floyd) Shaw, and Bonnie (James) Morgan, all of Missosuri; grandchildren, Timothy (Tracy) White of Goshen, Raymond Jr., (Shawna) Ferguson of Mishawaka; Johnathan Ferguson of South Bend; Amber (R. Jason) Coppler of Mishawaka; David Myrick and Kaley Myrick of Elkhart, Indiana. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. One son, David Myrick; sister Beatrice Davis and brother Harold Myrick preceded him in death.
Mr. Myrick served his country honorably from 1946-1951 in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. He worked at Vincent Bach building band instruments, retiring in 1999 after 36 years of service. He also worked for Fairmount, building houses, trailers and buses. He retired again in 2014 after working in security.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Prairie Street Cemetery, 401 W. Hively Avenue, Elkhart, IN. Palmer Funeral Home-West Chapel, South Bend, IN is assisting the family. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com
