Daniel Joseph Grooms 53, of South Bend, passed away from complications of liver disease at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis at 10:00 am, Friday January 4, 2013.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Marianne Grooms of South Bend; brother, Gary (Susan) Grooms of Granger; sister, Louanne Grooms (Rick) of South Bend; stepson, Shane (Nicole) Claycomb of Niles; and five grandchildren.

Dan enjoyed being outdoors and taking long walks. He had a gentle way with animals. He was also very artistic. Though he had no formal training, he found ways to express that talent in tattooing and drawing. Over the years, he provided his friends and family with many of his works.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, January 18, 2013 in Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Rev. Donald Guertin, C.S.C. will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 5:00 pm Friday in the funeral home prior to services.
