Daniel T. Martindale

September 8, 1958 ~ June 25, 2017 (age 58) 58 Years Old

Daniel T. Martindale, 58, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 7:35 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Daniel spent his last moments on this earth surrounded by loved ones, who sang and worshipped with him as he passed. He was born on September 8, 1958, in South Bend, IN. On February 21, 2004, at Sonlight Fellowship Wesleyan Church, South Bend, he married the former Brenda Zeiger.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Brenda Martindale; two sons: Alex (Michelle) Sexton of Granger, and Jacob Sexton of Mishawaka; three grandchildren: Riley, Caleb and Nathaniel; his mother, Shirley (Furlong) Riffell of Granger; three sisters: Rebecca Garcia of Elkhart, Melissa (Frank) Beard of Springfield, IL, and Kim Riffell of South Bend; and five brothers: Richard (Jenny) Martindale of Henderson, KY, Todd Riffell of Whittier, CA, David (Colleen) Martindale of Milton, FL, Douglas (Julie) Martindale of South Bend, and Kent (Chikako) Riffell of Middlebury.  He is also survived by special family friends Ryan and Janie Scripter, Alena and Baylen, of Kingsland, GA.  Daniel is preceded in death by his father, Donald Martindale, and stepfather, Keith Riffell.

Daniel was a State Eligibility Consultant for the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. He was a member of Sonlight Fellowship.

Most of Daniel’s childhood and adulthood was spent in Arizona. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry and Business Management from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Daniel loved everything about nature, especially how plants and trees grow. He hiked the Grand Canyon on several occasions. During his forestry studies, he learned how to scare off a bear, and how to keep his horse from doing battle with a rattle snake. When he moved to Indiana in 2004, he was excited to learn about the different species of trees and plants that grow here.

Daniel loved to study the Bible, with prophecy being his favorite topic. He participated in a local Bible Study Fellowship group. Their recent study on the book of Revelation was an exciting and rewarding time for him.

Spending time with his family brought Daniel much joy. He loved being Poppa to his grandchildren. A multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews delighted him as well.
