David Allen Elmerick

David Allen Elmerick, 61, of South Bend, IN passed away at 8:49 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Memorial Hospital.  He was born on January 31, 1954 in South Bend, IN to Donald M. "Sonny" and Dixie Ann (Niven) Elmerick.  ]

David is survived by his children, Cari D. Elmerick of South Bend, IN Justin D. Elmerick of South Bend, IN; his loving companion, Patricia Kay Risner; other surviving children include,  Natasha S. (Brian) Foster of South Bend, IN, Dana L. (Matthew) Champagne of Lawrenceville, GA and Tracy L.  (Joe) Alberts of Avon, IN, and Travis L. (Kelley) Feldman of Fishers, IN; nine grandchildren, Jayde, Jasmine, Reagan, Nevaeh, Nathan, Brandon, Madilyn, Kiernan and Meredeth; sister, Darlene (Eldon) Watts of South Bend, IN; two brothers, Donald "Arnie"  (Diane) Elmerick of Columbus, IN and Dennis (Melissa) Elmerick of South Bend, IN.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald on December 4, 2005 and Dixie on March 3, 2008 and his brother, Dwayne Elmerick on March 15, 1983.

David was a lifelong resident.  He worked for Southfield Village in maintenance and was a self employed carpenter for forty-five years.  He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed flat track and motorcross motorcycle racing, ice fishing, grilling (he was a "grill master", known for his famous Dave's chicken), watching the grandchildren's sports and listening to "Journey".

Funeral services will be held at  2:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN.  Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the services.  Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
