David E. "Dutch" Schultz

David E. "Dutch" Schultz, 89, of South Bend, IN passed away at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Sanctuary at St. Paul.  He was born on August 7, 1927 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Daniel and Harriett (Hintz) Schultz.  On August 25, 1951 in South Bend, IN, he was united in marriage to Donna (Cruse) Schultz, who survives.

David is also survived by his sister-in-law, Viola (Cruse) Greene of Roswell, GA; great niece, Elizabeth Kutz (Dennis) Demaree of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; family, Doug (Beverly) Kutz of Chattanooga, TN;  and fifteen other nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by five sisters, Elizabeth Seder, Anne Poppert, Frances Schultz, Ida Schultz and Olive Galloway; three brothers, Sam, Gus and Bill Schultz; niece, Marlene Greene Kutz and brother-in-law, Ronald D. Greene.

David moved to South Bend in 1948 coming from Wisconsin.  He attended the North Central Bible Institute of Minneapolis, MN for two years.  He worked as a design engineer supervisor and held a patent for Uniroyal Corporation retiring in 1995 after thirty-three years of service.  He was a very active member of  the former Calvary Temple where he taught Sunday School and directed for the former Bus Ministry.  David enjoyed his flower garden and learning about new cars.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, IN 47872.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery, 103 W. High Street, Rockville, IN. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services.   There will be no local services.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.
