Deverle Lee Abbott

SOUTH BEND – Deverle Lee Abbott, 93, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away at 11:35 AM Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Center for Hospice Care, South Bend.

Deverle was born on October 26, 1921 in Rochester, Indiana to the late Leo Vern Abbott and Bernice (Babcock) Abbott and has been a long-time resident of the South Bend area.  Deverle was a manager with First Source Bank for 38 years, retiring in 1987.  He was a member of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, South Bend.  Deverle was also a member of the St. Joseph Lodge #45 F. & A.M. and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.

Deverle is survived by his sister, Laura L. Abbott of South Bend, his niece Sharon (Steve) Coplen and his nephew, Larry Elliott.  He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Charlotte Meyers, Mary Sharkey, and Nina Faye Abbott.

Graveside services for Deverle Lee Abbott will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Southlawn Cemetery; 61300 US 931 South (old US 31 South), South Bend, IN 46614.  Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615 is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to Evangel Heights United Methodist Church; 114 N.
