Donald Eugene Gushwa

Donald Eugene Gushwa, 71, of South Bend, IN,  passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his home.  He was born on July 23, 1945 in Kendallville, IN to the late Charles and Violet (Misner) Gushwa.  On November 3, 1973 in Roseland, IN, he was united in marriage to the former Aretta M. Cisney. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage until her passing on October 24, 2010. .  He was also preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Kenneth Chaney.

Donald is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Chaney of Mishawaka, IN; son, Donald Aaron (Melissa) Gushwa of South Bend, IN; and four grandchildren, Alexa and Kaitlynn Miles, and Katie and Jacob Chaney.

Donald graduated from Sturgis High School.  He served his country honorably as a Seabee in the United States Navy from July 7, 1965 to February 26, 1968.  He was a machinist at Master Metal in South Bend.   

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend,  where military honors will be offered at 7:00 p.m. by the U.S. Navy and VFW Post 360 and American Legion Post 161.
