SOUTH BEND – Donna J. Baker, 87, passed away at 1:30 PM Monday, March 23, 2015 at Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation, South Bend.
Donna was born on July 16, 1927 in Mishawaka to the late Glenn and Mary (Myers) Pittman and has been a lifelong resident of the Osceola and Mishawaka area. Donna was a 1945 graduate of Mishawaka High School.
On November 9, 1946 in Linton, Indiana she was united in marriage to Charles E. Baker, who preceded her in death in 1991. Donna cherished her role as a homemaker. With her husband serving in the military, she worked the “Victory Shift” at Ball Band making boots. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed watching butterflies and playing the Hawaiian guitar. Donna was a member of the Cedar Road Missionary Church, Osceola.
Donna is survived by her sons, Randy (Kathy) Baker and Ron (Sherry) Baker; nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Mary Pittman; daughter, Linda Dickson; and sister, Ruthie Foster.
Funeral services for Donna J. Baker will be at 4:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615, with two hours of visitation prior to services at the funeral home. Pastor Tracy Forbes of Cedar Road Missionary Church will officiate. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the “Cottage” at Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation for their wonderful care and compassion given to their mother and grandmother.
