Doris A Smith

   Doris A. Smith, age 57, of South Bend, IN, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 3:23 in her home. Her parents, Moses Smith Sr. and Pearl Lee Smith, her brothers, Willie Cross and Moses Smith Jr., and her sister Joan Smith all preceded her in death. Surviving is her only child, Milton Smith, and her significant other, Harvey Armstead. Doris also leaves behind a group of siblings including the following: AD (Barbara) Cross, Margaret (Eric) Jamison, Barbara Neal, Shirley (Michael) Warren, Carol Smith, Laverne (Robert) Smith, Morris (Linda) Smith, Darlene Smith, Yolanda Lott, and a special friend Elizabeth Burnett. She also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

   Doris was a lifetime resident of South Bend, living in Federal Way, WA briefly in the early 2000s. She was an employee of Holy Cross Village up until her passing and she loved to go work and interact with the elderly residents living in the community. Doris was a glamorous woman who loved anything pertaining to beauty and fashion. Her family and friends affectionately knew her as everyone's favorite diva. Her favorite pastimes were cooking, spending time with family, casino trips, and going to church on Sundays.

  The family would like to thank Center for Hospice Care for their exceptional care and making it possible for Doris to transition peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

  Services for Doris will be held on Friday, December 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend. Friends may call on the family for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
