Elizabeth J. Wells

Elizabeth J. Wells, 87, of South Bend, IN passed away at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at her home.  She was born on July 21, 1927 in Wayne County, MI to the late Samuel Roscoe and Ruth Muriel (Link) Sanford.  She was united in marriage on September 18, 1948 to Leslie E. Wells who preceded her in death on January 6, 1975.

Mrs. Wells is survived by three daughters, Diane (Raymond) Leliaert and Lisa (Pat) Patrick, both of South Bend, IN and Melanie (Scott) Atkinson of Montgomery, OH; five grandchildren, Andrew (Lisa) Leliaert of Fishers, IN, Emily (Duma) Magagula of South Bend, IN, James (Hedde) Wells of South Bend, IN, Timothy Patrick of South Bend, IN and Claire Atkinson of Montgomery, OH; six great grandchildren, Addison, Blake and Evan Leliaert of Fishers, IN and Laci Linder, Grace and Chase Wells of South Bend, IN and sister, Gladys Baker of Holgate, OH.  Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Bette Sanford of Ligonier, IN, Phillis Sanford of Defiance, OH, Gloria Arp of Bryan, OH and brothers-in-law, Gerald (Dorothy) Wells of Port Orange, FL, Ray Wells of Wauseon, OH and Cleo Gale (Sue) Wells of Masury, OH. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Elizabeth Kajzer; two sisters, Beatrice Lois Kleinhen and Ethel Stuckey and three brothers, Raymond Winfield Sanford, Kenneth Roscoe Sanford and Cecil Arlo Sanford. 

Mrs. Wells moved to South Bend in 1952 and remained a longtime resident.  She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
