Everett Thomas Wheeler

Mr. Everett Thomas “Jethron” Wheeler, 52 years old of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully with his loved ones by his side, on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jethron, Easy-E, and E-Wee were some of the many names that friends and family called Everett.

Everett was born to the union of James E. and the late Joanna Wheeler on February 6, 1965 in South Bend. Everett was an avid painter and loved helping his family as much as he could. He prided himself on family first.

Everett was preceded in death by his mother, Joanna Wheeler; sister, Alicestein Wheeler; maternal and paternal grandparents; and on special cousin, James E. Williams. Everett is survived by his father, James, E. Wheeler, Jr.; sister, Cheryl Wheeler; brother, James E. (Francine) Wheeler III; his companion of 14 years, Marilyn Nailon; one son, Carlis Young; nieces and nephews, Michael Hardrict, Carlos Wheeler, Tyrenia Newsom, Terence Wheeler, and Nakisha Williams; five children that he helped lovingly raise, Renee, Jazmine, Jeremiah, Ashley, and Charles; two very special aunts, Esther Wade and Violet Riley; a very special uncle, Maxie Wheeler; and a special friend of more than 20 years, Toni Roseman.

Funeral services for Everett T. Wheeler will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 24 at Second Baptist Church, 24828 Fillmore Road, South Bend, IN 46619. Pastor André Wells will officiate. Graveside services and burial, next to his beloved mother, will follow at Highland Cemetery in South Bend. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am on Monday at the church prior to the service.
