Frances B. (McGriff) Snyder, 88, residing in South Bend, passed away suddenly at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007 in her home
She was born April 30, 1919 in Lebanon, Oregon, the daughter of Thomas and Esther (Henderson) McGriff, and lived in the Lakeville-South Bend all of her life.
On October 21, 1939 in South Bend, as Frances McGriff, she was united in marriage to Jack W. Snyder. He passed away on August 19, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her son, Roger E. Snyder in 1988, and her brother, John Dale McGriff.
Mrs. Snyder retired in 1990 from Country Bake Shop where she was employed as a baker. She had also worked for more than thirty years as a decorator with various other bakeries including Hillview, Strauss, and Rosie's. She was a member of Northway Church of Christ and it's Senior Saints group. She belonged to the Leighton Center and Grandbuddies at Leighton. She loved to play euchre, listen to Barbershop music, loved her church and being with her family. She was anxiously awaiting a new great-grandchild joining the family in the next month.
Frances is survived by her daughter Nancy K. (Ron) Wise of South Bend, three sons, Thomas M. Snyder of South Bend, Jack W. (Dorothy) Snyder, and Marc A. (Kathryn) Snyder all of Mishawaka, and a daughter-in-law, Mary Snyder of South Bend. Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Ed Erskin will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at the funeral home.
