Gloria G. Lacy

Gloria G. Lacy, 93 years old, a resident of South Bend, IN since 1969, passed away at 6:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at her home.  Mrs. Lacy was born on February 26, 1922 in Duncan, OK to the late Richard and Florence (Miller) Garner.  On August 30, 1941 in Dallas, TX, she was united in marriage to Ralph C. Lacy who preceded her in death on May 7, 2001.  Two sons, Charles Richard Lacy and Ralph Cameron Lacy III; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lacy; and grandson, Jimmie Zamagni, all preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lacy is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Schroeder of South Bend and Ann (Lloyd) Bryant of Beaver Creek, OH; daughter-in-law, Judy Lacy of Tucson, AZ; three granddaughters, Kathy (Jim) Nash of Urbana, OH, Kristin Sliger of Centerville, OH, and Kerry Beth (John Whittmore) Bryant of Kettering, OH; six great grandsons, Chris, Jeff, Connor, Casey, Kendall and Joe; and two great granddaughters, Lacy and Sarah.   Gloria and Ralph’s lifelong best friends, Bob and Caroline Campbell also survive and reside in Dallas, TX

Mrs. Lacy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she worked in the office.  She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.  Mrs. Lacy was a member of the Embroider’s Guild of America and Memorial Hospital Auxilliary.  Her love of embroidery enabled her to design and stitch the kneelers at Grace United Methodist Church.  She also enjoyed gardening.  Mrs. Lacy was a friend to all who knew her.  She was a gracious lady with a sweet soul and was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother. 

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Southlawn Cemetery, 61300 U.S. 31 South, South Bend.  Trevor Foley, Chaplain with the Center for Hospice, will officiate.  Burial will follow.  There will be no visitation.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.
