Harold Jay Geyer

March 20, 1922 ~ April 24, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Harold Jay Geyer, 95 years old, passed away at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017 at St. Paul’s Retirement Community, South Bend.  Mr. Geyer was born on March 20, 1922 in Lakeville to the late Walter William and Lulu Mae (Seese) Geyer.  He has remained a lifelong resident of Lakeville.  On March 21, 1948 in Lakeville, Harold and Patty Ann Huff were united in marriage.

Along with his loving wife of 69 years, Patty Ann, he is survived by their three daughters, Karen Taylor of South Bend, Sharen (Anthony) Armaly of Sebring, FL and Nancy (James) Kistler of Columbus, IN; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  Mr. Geyer was preceded in death by his six siblings, Zelma Geyer, Robert Geyer, Dale Geyer, Russell Geyer, Betty Jean Heckaman, and Loren Geyer.

Mr. Geyer retired in 1977 after 36 years of employment at Ball-Band/Uniroyal.  He was also a self-employed lifelong farmer.   Mr. Geyer was a lifetime member of Lakeville United Methodist Church and a graduate of Lakeville High School.  He was active for many years as a St. Joseph County 4-H Leader and was a Friend of 4-H, earning an award for his dedication.  He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and was a pitcher for his church team and Ball-Band team.    Mr. Geyer proudly served his country during WWII with the United States Army at the Battle of the Bulge with the 99th Infantry.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Lakeville United Methodist Church, 610 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville.  Pastor Brian White will officiate.  Military graveside services will follow at Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, IN.  Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Palmer Funeral Home within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville and one hour prior to services in the church on Friday. 

Contributions in memory of Harold Jay Geyer may be donated to Lakeville United Methodist Church Youth Summer Camp Scholarship, P.O.
