Harold W. "Bill" Tubbs Jr.

Harold W. “Bill” Tubbs, Jr., 83, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015 in his home.  He was born February 20, 1932 in South Bend, a son of Harold W. & Ruth Winifred (Campbell) Tubbs, and has lived in South Bend his entire life.

On Sept. 7, 1951 in South Bend, Bill was united in marriage to the love of his life, P. Joan Strouss.  They have enjoyed 63 ½ years of marriage.  He is also survived by his son Dennis Tubbs of South Bend; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Westphal of Thorp, WI; and granddaughter, Suzanne Tubbs of LaCrosse, WI.  He was preceded in death by a son Martin William Tubbs on January 21, 1981.

Bill retired as an estimator with T & M Boiler Repair, and formerly worked at Fabricated Steel as an estimator from 1958-1985.  He was a member and Past Master of St. Joseph Lodge #45, F. & AM., a member and Thrice Potent Master of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend and 33rd Degree Honorary member of the Supreme Council of Scottish Rite for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, and Orak Shrine, Michigan City, and a member of the former Donmoyer Church of Christ.

Masonic memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, by members of St. Joseph Lodge #45, followed by a memorial service led by Pastor Chuck Wotring of Northway Church of Christ.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
