Helen Y. Forsythe, 99, lifelong South Bend resident, passed away at 5:50 am Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in the Hearth at Juday Creek, Granger. She was born November 4, 1916 in South Bend to the late John and Fani (Nemeth) Szucs. On June 26, 1937 in South Bend, Helen married James L. Forsythe, who preceded her in death on March 23, 1997. She was also preceded by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and John Szucs; sister, Ann Szucs Davidson; and brothers, Steve “Pee Wee” Szucs and John Balog.

Helen is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Fashimpaur of Salt Lake City, UT; sons, Rick (Diane) Forsythe of South Bend and James (Brenda) Forsythe of Lancaster, KY; and grandchildren, Amy, John, Chris, Kelly, Trent, Kurt, Tammy, Jimmy, Tarea, Solomon, Justin, Cory and Danielle; as well as twelve great grandchildren.

Helen worked in housekeeping at St. Joseph Hospital before retirement and was a longtime member of Calvary Church in South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, October 24, 2016 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am until time of services.  Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband in Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, IN.
