James O. Borton, 74, of North Liberty, IN passed away at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Signature Health Care in Bremen, IN. He was born on July 14, 1940 in North Liberty, IN to the late James Lawrence and Helen (Nelson) Borton. On December 25, 1960 in North Liberty, IN he was united in marriage to Linda L. (Whitmer) Borton.
Mr. Borton is survived by his wife, Linda L. Borton; three daughters, Mary E. (Ralph) Wise of LaPaz, IN, Louann (Larry) Etherton of Walkerton, IN and Jeanann Carrington of Tyner, IN; three sons, John H. Borton of Walkerton, IN, Matthew L. (Donita) Borton of North Liberty, IN and James R. Borton of Knox, IN; thirteen grandchildren, James (Natasha) Wise, Michael McRoberts, Sarah (Derek Delcamp) Banks, James (Tammy) McRoberts, Matthew (Lauren Parsons) Borton, Stephanie (Steve) Celmer, Laura (Dennis II) Hawkes, Charles Wise, David (Beth) McRoberts, Daniel (Kayla) Borton, Bryan (Chelsea Kimmel) Borton, Sierra and Winston Carrington and ten great grandchildren, Trenton and Alexis Banks, Anna McRoberts, Aiden Wise, Dennis Hawkes III, Dominic Foust, Zoe McRoberts, Hunter Borton, Jonathan Celmer and Cambria Delcamp. He is also survived by two sisters, Zella Luallen of Galesburg, IL and Alma (Earl) Free of South Bend, IN and seven brothers, Carl Borton of North Liberty, IN, Keith Borton of Walkerton, IN, Lynn (Shirley) Borton of Koontz Lake, IN, Merle Borton of South Bend, IN, Terry (Darlene) Borton of North Liberty, IN, Glen (Pam) Borton of New Carlisle, IN and Dale (Lorraine) Borton of Walkerton, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Iona Cole and brother, Howard Borton.
Mr. Borton was a lifelong resident. He worked for Ackley Dairy Farm for thirty years and at Modern Door for four years. He was a member of North Liberty Church of the Brethren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at North Liberty Church of the Brethren, 201 E. Market Street, North Liberty, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Monday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 202 N. Main St. North Liberty, IN. and one hour prior to the services Tuesday at church.
