James Robert “Jimmy Jo” Joseph, 71, residing in Cassopolis, MI, passed away at 10:24 p.m. on Thursday, July 16.  He was born June 3, 1944 in Dearborn, MI to the late James Joseph and Eva (Perkavitch) Willard.
 
Jimmy Jo served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He worked in construction for many years and was a member of American Legion Post #365 in Edwardsburg, MI. He was also a member of the Backdoor Alley Club for over two decades meeting weekly. Jimmy Jo was a beloved son, brother, father and friend. All were welcome at the “Shack in the Back”.
 
He is survived by three daughters, Tracy Bouma of Waveland, MS, Jessica (Jeremy) Joseph of Detroit, MI and Pamela Hickman of Elkhart, IN; three sons, James (Lisa) Laird, Johnny (Lucinda) Joseph and Ronnie (Theresa) LaGrande, all of Elkhart, IN; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and his companion, Linda. He is also survived by sisters, Delores, Jeannie and Jessie; and brothers, Ray and Larry. He was preceded in death by sisters, Betty and Ava; and brothers, Johnny and Patrick.
 
Although Jimmy Jo will be missed by all who knew him, he will be welcomed at his next destination by many members of family as well as friends. His journey through life was full and memorable. He would not want you to mourn his passing, but celebrate his crossing.
 
Military honors and graveside services for Jimmy Jo will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Five Points Cemetery, US 12, Edwardsburg, MI. There will be a dinner following the graveside services at the American Legion on US 12 in Edwardsburg, where Jimmy Jo was a member. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
