James R. Weschgel

James Roger Weschgel, 63, of South Bend, was called home to be with the Lord at 5:10 a.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2018.  James was born on July 16, 1954 in Benton Harbor, MI to the late Robert and Helen Weschgel.  He graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1972.  James was a graduate of Asbury College, Kentucky.  Earlier in his life, he was a member of the Salvation Army band and songster.  James loved music and helping others.  He was a member of the Clay-Granger Lions Club and Benton Harbor, Michigan Lions. 

On June 8, 2002 in Natrona Heights, PA, James and Phyllis Sue were united in marriage.  Along with his loving wife, Sue Weschgel, James is survived by his brother, Richard Weschgel of Watervliet, MI; sister, Debra (Herb) Kroening of St. Joseph, MI; and Aunt Alice Weschgel of Berrien Springs, MI.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the South Bend First Church of the Nazarene, 51690 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN.  Pastor Andy Lauer will officiate.  Friends may visit with the family at the church after the celebration service.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family with arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of James R. Weschgel may be donated to the South Bend First Church of the Nazarene, 51690 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN  46635.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
