Jean R. Switalski, 85, of South Bend, IN passed away at 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Hospice House, South Bend. She was born on March 15, 1926 in South Bend, IN to John and Grace (Gottman) Porogi.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Dennis) Shirtz of Plymouth, IN and Chere (Bill) Lapkiewicz of South Bend, IN; two sons, Ed (Sandra) Switalski, Jr. of South Bend, IN and Harold (Carolyn) Grounds of South Bend, IN; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and a brother, John (Jane) Porogi of FL. Her parents, John Porogi and Grace Konopinski and a brother, Ronald Porogi preceded her in death.
Jean was a lifelong area resident. She retired from South Bend Toy Company where she was employed as a seamstress. She formerly attended Holy Family Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2011 in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
