Jeffrey Scott Koenig

Jeffrey Scott Koenig liberated himself from this mortal realm around 4:20pm, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana at the age of 53. With a heavy heart and partiality for all things absurd, Jeffrey, finally drew a line in the sand—he just couldn't endure another Presidential tweet. Literally, his heart couldn't go on.

He leaves behind four inestimable sisters, a capricious cousin, a whole brood of stupendous nieces and nephews, a ton of ridiculously entertaining friends, Lord Grimsby of Chipperton, and one husband to whom he was married for over 20 years, Benjamin Murray-Oates, because it was finally his time to wash the dishes.

Jeffrey took with him, Sir Wembley of Thumperton and was preceded by his Germanically strict but eleemosynary father Leo J. Koenig and his eccentrically mischievous mother Jeannine L. Koenig, whom he missed every day and will no longer have to.

He was incredibly creative, leaving a mark on our city through his designs. He loved a multitude of vices, reading heady biographies, listening to empowering female music, watching classic TV sitcoms, visually recording everything, tacky holiday decorations and was often too gay to function.

He lived his life, veni vidi vici, coming hard, seeing much, and conquering nothing that mattered. It is because of this, he had an uncanny knack for leaving people feeling better off about themselves than when they started. Often reiterating, "Do the loving thing”—that mantra is how he would want you to commemorate his life.

Following his wishes, we would love to see you all gather for a “Conviviality of Life Memorial” later this spring. Details forthcoming.
