August 25, 1934 – June 23, 2015

MISHAWAKA – Jimmie L. Hamman, Sr., 80, residing in Mishawaka, IN passed away at 4:50 AM Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at his daughter’s home.  Jimmie worked for School City of Mishawaka 34 ½ years as Fireman.  Jimmie was born on August 25, 1934 in Mishawaka, IN to the late Frank and Myrtle Hamman and remained a lifelong resident. 

On February 14, 1961 in South Bend, IN he was united in married to Susan L. (Mellinger) Hamman.  She preceded him in death on May 22, 2004. 

Jimmie is survived by three daughters, Jenette (Sal) Nijak of South Bend, Laura Hamman of Mishawaka and Stephanie Dillard of Mishawaka; son, Jimmie L. Hamman, Jr. of South Bend; grandchildren, Becky (Keith) Moody, Katie (Dan) Stoll, and Justin Dillard; great-grandchildren, Emery Stoll and Amelia Moody; and his  sister, Gloria Hamman of South Bend.  One sister and three brothers preceded Jimmie in death. 

Jimmie was a proud Marine and Korean War Veteran; and a member of Marine League.  Susan’s cremated remains will be reunited with Jimmie for burial.

Jimmie loved Flea Markets and auctions.  He liked to farm and refurbish antiques.  He enjoyed going to “the boat” occasionally and was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.  He loved spending time with his family. 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel.  Rev. Ed Wilsberg will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM Saturday until time of services at the funeral home.
