John L. Berry, Jr.

John L. Berry, Jr., 61, lifetime resident of South Bend, passed away at 10:49am on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. He was born on July 14, 1955 in South Bend, to the late John L. and Delores Olivia (DePriest) Berry, Sr.

John is survived by his wife, Carol Pettus-Berry; daughter, Karastine “Kitty” Berry of Pennsylvania; sons, John L. Berry III of Pennsylvania; Darell Berry and Larell Berry, both of South Bend; three grandchildren; special nephew, Demetrias A. (Hope) Page, Sr.; sisters, Patricia Adams, Leona Page, Veronica Collins, Barbara Ellis, Willamae Jones, and Stephania Pigee; brothers, Issac (Debra) Pigee, Willie Pigee, Michael Scott, Steven Pigee, and Carletus Scott; special friend, Eugene of St. Louis, MO; special brother-in-law, Robert Page; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by sisters, Ruthie Mae Berry and Brenda Phillips.

John was employed as a supervisor at Super Auto Salvage in South Bend. He enjoyed watching sports and loved gardening.

Funeral services for John will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home—West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628. Bishop Ralph André Parker of River of Life Family Church will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00am at the funeral home prior to the services on Saturday. Graveside services and burial will be at 10:00am on Monday, April 17 at Southlawn Cemetery.
