John "Carl" Taylor

February 16, 1931 ~ October 15, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old

John Carl Taylor, 85 years old, passed away at 1:28 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Hospice House of South Bend after being surrounded by his loving family.  Carl was born on February 16, 1931 in LaPorte, IN to the late John Alvin and Grace (Foresman) Taylor.  He has lived most of his life in South Bend.  On February 23, 1952 in South Bend, Carl and Rosemary Kazmierzak were united in marriage.

Along with his loving wife of 64 years, Rosemary, survivors include their children, Karla (Mike) Cashen of Granger, IN and Mark (Diana) Taylor of Naperville ,IL; four grandchildren, Michael John Cashen, Julianne Nicole Taylor, Katrina Elaine Taylor and Kesley Erin Taylor; and one brother, Robert (Nancy) Taylor of Elkhart, IN.

Carl retired as Sales Manager for General Motor Corporation after 34 years of employment.  He began his career in 1956 with the Chevrolet Motor Division, GMC in Detroit, MI where he sold cars and trucks to Chevrolet Dealers in Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan for 18 years.  For the remaining 16 years, he worked with the Service Parts Operations of GMC selling automotive parts and accessories to General Motor Dealers.  He was proud to always accomplish his sales objectives and to assist with resolving dealer problems.  Carl was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend and attended Indiana University in Bloomington.

Carl's greatest joy and love was his family.  He was always concerned  about them and showed his love throughout his life.  Carl was the kind of man everyone loved to be around; kind, humorous, ready to lend a hand and always asked how you were doing.  He made people feel at ease with a kind word, a great sense of humor, and a beautiful smile.  Carl enjoyed life to the fullest, loving family vacations, reading, conversing, and just spending time with his wife and family.  The family wants to celebrate the life of the man they loved so deeply, a loving and generous husband, dad, grandpa, and cherished brother.

A celebration of Carl's life  will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S.
