Joseph Walter Edwards, Jr.

Joseph Walter Edwards, Jr., residing in South Bend, IN, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 in his home.  He was born July 15, 1949 in South Bend, a son of Joseph W. & Jaunita (Matlock) Edwards, and has remained a lifelong resident of this community.

He is survived by his two daughters, Rachael M. (Greg) Dickson of South Bend; and Renee M. (Jama) Edwards of Bourbon, IN; and his son, Vince (Carrie Vera) Edwards of Mishawaka, IN.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Judy Edwards of Arlington, WA; and Joan Wisniewski of Puma Valley, CA.

Joe worked as a mechanic at an auto body shop.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, and was a member of American Legion Post #357.

Memorial services for Mr. Edwards will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 So. Michigan Street, South Bend, followed by military honors offered by the United States Army and American Legion Post #357.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
