Joseph E. Kapshandy

February 23, 1932 ~ May 2, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Joseph E. Kapshandy, 84, residing in Canton, GA; formerly of South Bend, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Lodge at Bridgemill in Canton, GA.  He was born in South Bend on February 23, 1932 to Joseph P. & Theresa A. (Albey) Kapshandy, and lived most of his life in South Bend.

On June 5, 1955 in South Bend, Joe was united in marriage to Billie J. Whiteman.  She passed away on May 12, 2003.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Kapshandy on March 18, 1983.

Mr. Kapshandy is survived by his daughter, Kim (Joe) Tatman of Marietta, GA; a son, Timothy E. (Marcy) Kapshandy of Scherrerville, IN; and four grandchildren, Kelly & Kate Kapshandy, and Jacquie (Tatman) Collins and Brett Tatman.

Joe retired from Andrew Troeger Sheet Metal Co. Inc., following 23 years of employment. He was a passionate HO scale model railroad train builder and a member of the St. Joseph Valley Model Railroad Club. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of South Bend.

Services will be at noon, Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St., South Bend, IN.  Graveside services and military rites will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel.
