Kathryn M. Strader

Kathryn M. Strader, 90 years old, passed away on Thursday morning, December 1, 2016 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.  Mrs. Strader was born on October 22, 1926 in South Bend to the late Ernest W. and Minnie (Thompson) Wendt.  She has been a lifelong area resident.  On August 23, 1976 in South Bend, Kathryn was united in marriage to Roy Strader who preceded her in death on August 18, 1999.  Four brothers, Robert, Bud, Russell and George Wendt, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Strader is survived by her three children, Kelly Sue (Jeffrey) Jones of Wakarusa, IN, Kenneth (fiancé, Edna Dillahey) Knabenshue of Punta Gorda, FL, and Kerry (Cathy) Knabenshue of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Ann (LaMont) Freeze, Paul (Alycia) Knabenshue, Don Knabenshue, Jean (Chris) Gramza, Tara (fiancé, Marq Edwards) Knabenshue, Chris Knabenshue, Rebecca Knabenshue, Cameron Jones, and Caleb Jones; seven great grandchildren, Joshua, Andrea, Cailynn, Gabrielle, A.J., Luke, and Evelyn; and one sister, Mary Trattles of South Bend. 

Mrs. Strader was a nursing aide at Memorial Hospital for many years.  She enjoyed being a member of the unofficial “social group” at McDonald’s on a weekly basis. 

A private graveside service will be held on Monday morning, December 5, 2016 at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.  There will be no visitation.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
