SOUTH BEND – Kenneth J. Gard, Jr., 81, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away at 7:30 PM Monday, August 3, 2015 at his home.

Kenneth was born on August 19, 1933 in South Bend to the late Kenneth J. Gard, Sr. and Evelyn Gard.  Kenneth proudly served our country in the United States Army.  He was the owner of National Brake Service, and previously worked at South Bend Window Cleaning, Hoffman Brothers, and Bendix.  Kenneth was a member of the American Legion Post 303, South Bend and the Clay Democratic Club.

Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Dianna Murray (Greg Rozek) of South Bend and Jeanne (Richard) Lonzo of Granger; son, Kenneth C. Gard of South Bend; grandchildren, Jeffrey Lonzo, Gregory Lonzo, Christopher Murray, Brandon Gard, and Brittany (Brian) Keith; two great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Camden; brother, Jim Gard of Kansas City, KS; and the mother of his children, Harriet Gard of South Bend.  His granddaughter, Brittany, was so very special to Kenneth during his last days.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Shirley Trovatore and Susan Gabaree; and four brothers, Jack, Bob, Bill, and Duane Gard.

Funeral Services and Military Rites will be at 6:00 PM Friday, August 7, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615 where friends may visit with the family three hours prior to services (3:00 PM till 6:00 PM).  Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 230 W.
