Kenneth Joseph Schnick

July 1, 1940 ~ November 12, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Kenneth Joseph Schnick, 77, residing in Bremen, IN; passed away at 5:03pm on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

He was born July 1, 1940 in New Buffalo, MI, a son of the late Herman & Evangeline (Suida) Schnick.  On August 23, 1959 in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Sharon L. Cabanaw.  They enjoyed 50 years of marriage until her passing on June 5, 2010.  He was also preceded by his son Mark Lee Schnick on December 2, 1968, two brothers, Herman Schnick Jr., and Randy Schnick, and a sister, Patricia Kline.

Kenneth retired in 2000 from the Bendix-Allied Signal, where he worked in the Aircraft, Brake & Strut Dept. for 35 years. 

He is survived by his three sons, Bryan (Teresa) Schnick of Pendleton, IN; Jeff (Patricia) Schnick of Tennessee; and Stephen Schnick of Elkhart, IN.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) McMullan, Jeffrey (Blanca) Schnick, Tommy Schnick, Stephen Schnick Jr., Cameron Schnick, and Caitlin (Cody) Spencer, as well as two great-grandchildren, Kate and Noah.

A time of visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with a time of sharing at 6:30pm.

Ken was a 1958 graduate of Mishawaka High School. He was a hard worker, and a great guy who loved everyone.  He also loved anyone who played against Notre Dame.  He was a Chevy Guy, and loved cars and drag racing at Osceola, U.S. 30 and Martin, MI.  In his youth, he loved playing pick-up basketball games with his boys.  He liked high school and I.U. basketball and Bobby Knight, and was also a huge Cubs fan. He was a member of UAW Local #9 as a Union Steward and Committeeman.
