Larry E. Washington-Giden, 53, lifelong South Bend resident, accepted Christ in his life at 3:20pm on Sunday, March 26, 2017 in Cardinal Nursing Home, South Bend. He was born on May 23, 1963 in South Bend to the late Pearl B. Giden and Eugene Washington.
On September 16, 2016 in South Bend, Larry married the former Jeanea Riley, who survives. Larry is also survived by daughters, Tyana Black, Tenii Washington, and Dayonae Washington-Lenoir, all of Indianapolis, IN; Dinaireal Lewis of Elkhart, IN; Marcista (Derek) Bew of Texas; sons, Taurean (Demetria) Washington and Dante Washington; sisters, Theresa Washington, Gina Washington, and Angela Washington of Indianapolis; brothers, Stanley Washington of South Bend, Demetrius Jones of South Bend, Charles Jackson, Sr. of South Bend, and Donald (Jamie) Thomas of Orlando, FL; extended sisters, Rhonalda Minnis of Indianapolis; Huberta “Peaches” (Kyle) Casey of South Bend; Darlene Minnis of Atlanta, GA; extended brothers, Arthur Lattimore, Bluthers (Noly) Casey, and Johnny Brown, all of South Bend; aunts/uncles, Larry Thomas, Shirley Thomas, John Lipsey, Lenneth Lipsey, and Anthony Lipsey, all of South Bend; Willie Lipsey and Gwendolyn Lipsey, both of Indianapolis; Lisa Jones and Theresa Lipsey of Florida; Elliot Lipsey of California; and special friend, Kenny Jones. In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his brother, Keith D. Giden, Sr.; special mother, Irene Minnis; big sister, Orie Lee Watson; and Willie B. Minis.
Larry joined the A.M.E. Zion Church under the leadership of Timothy Rouse. Larry loved education, and he instilled wisdom and truth in others. He earned a G.E.D. and enjoyed a lot of hobbies. He especially loved sports—baseball, football, and basketball. He could often be found sitting and listening to music. Gambling was his all-time favorite thing to do, and he would always share his winnings. Larry loved to snack on oatmeal pies, Snickers, and a can of cold Pepsi.
 During his illness, Larry spent most of his time at Cardinal Nursing Home. A special thank-you is extended to Ebony Bush, CNA, for her kind words and dedicated work. Larry was well cared for also by the Heart to Heart Hospice team.
Funeral services for Larry will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in the Palmer Funeral Home ~ West Chapel.  Bishop Stephen Reed of Rhema Word International Church, South Bend, will officiate.  Friends may visit the family from 10:00 – 11:00 am Saturday in the funeral home prior to services.
