Lawrence A. Wingard, Sr.

Lawrence A. Wingard, Sr., 63, residing in South Bend, passed away at 1:00 am Monday, March 20, 2017 in his home. He was born November 15, 1953 in Michigan City, IN to Thomas and Mary (Ivey) Mitchell.

On September 9, 1978 in Michigan City, Lawrence married the former Linda Kay Fries, who survives. In addition to his loving wife of 38 years, he is survived by his mother, Mary Mitchell of Michigan City; children, Frankie (Megan) Wingard of Texas, Lawrence A. (Ashley) Wingard, Jr. of South Bend, Elizabeth Wingard of Mishawaka, Perry (Katelynn) Wingard of South Bend and David Wingard of South Bend; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Pat Orzch, Brenda Orzch, Wendy Neal, Sandy Orzch, Lisa Wingard and Leslie Wingard; and brothers, Bobbie Wingard, Gene Orzch, Tom Wingard, William Wingard and Russell Wingard; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela R. Wingard; father, Thomas Mitchell; and brother, Glenn Orzch.

Lawrence served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked as a roofer for Harvey Roofing Company in La Porte, IN.

Funeral services for Lawrence will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 25, 2017 in the Palmer Funeral Home - West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628. Pastor Bob Vale will officiate. Friends may visit with the family for two hours prior to services on Saturday in the funeral home.
