Lois Emiley (Dahlgren) Killelea

Lois Emiley Killelea, 88, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, at 10:42pm on Saturday, January 14, 2017. She was born on January 12, 1929 in South Bend to the late Elmer and Louise (Schieman) Dahlgren.

On August 2, 1947 in Elkhart, IN, Lois married Thomas M. Killelea, who preceded her in death after fifty years of marriage. She is survived by six children: Thomas (Lynn) Killelea of Granger, Margaret Rose Killelea of South Bend, Patrick (Carol) Killelea of South Bend, Michael (Carla) Killelea of Granger, Lois M. (James) Smith of South Bend, and Joseph Killelea of South Bend. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren: Tom, Scott (Laura), Amanda (Adam), Tony (Jen), Bryan, Thomas, Tammie, Michelle (Phillip), Sean (Stephanie), Kathleen (Hamada), Steven (Nicolle), Rory, Justin (Colleen), Cari, James (Laura), Zachary (Ashley), as well as twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Lois attended Lydick United Methodist Church. She was employed as manager at the former Bruggners Restaurant, Mezzanine at Robertson’s department store, and St. Mary’s Convent, retiring from there after ten years. Lois enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with her husband, playing cards with friends, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Lois will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 19 at Lydick United Methodist Church, 26510 Edison Road, South Bend, IN 46628. Rev. Jungbum Kim will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 12:00-1:00pm on Thursday, January 19 at Lydick United Methodist Church. Palmer Funeral Homes—Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
