Luana Jean Reed

Luana Jean Reed, 64 years old, passed away peacefully at home at 12:20 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016.  Luana was born on September 17, 1952 in South Bend to the late Charles and Nilah (Hodson) Fuchs.  She has remained a lifelong area resident.  Luana was a 1970 graduate of LaVille High School.  She loved to paint, especially screen painting and was an avid Notre Dame Women’s Basketball fan, as well as, a season ticket holder.  Luana was a faithful member of Southlawn United Methodist Church.  She loved her family and always enjoyed supporting all of the grandchildren in all of their extracurricular events.

Lu is survived by her companion with whom she made her home, Ray Robinson of South Bend; daughter, Brea J. (Aaron) Schelstraete of Lakeville and their children, Maegen, Ethan, and Tristan; son, Chad (Mel) Reed of Plymouth and their children, Cooper, Brayden, and Gavin Reed; sister, Sharon McHenry  of Texas; and brother, Bill (Sandy) McHenry of Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Southlawn United Methodist Church,  60756 U.S. 31 South, South Bend  where friends may visit with the family from 4:00-6:00 p.m.  Pastor Darrel Weaver will officiate.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Luana J. Reed may be donated to Palmer Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN  46614 for a special memorial to be established.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
