Marian F. Futter

Marian F. Futter, 90 years old, passed away at 4:03 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at her home in Fort Wayne, IN surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Futter was born on February 17, 1927 in Mishawaka to the late Willis Harrold and Pauline (Steele) Johnson.  She raised her family in South Bend and has lived in Fort Wayne since 2009.  On June 18, 1950 in Mishawaka, she was united in marriage to Richard E. Futter who preceded her in death on May 13, 1982.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Donna Jean Hann.

Mrs. Futter is survived by her five children, Lynne Futter Gilmore of Fort Wayne, Marcia A. Futter of Fort Wayne, Richard E. (Barbara) Futter, Jr. of Mequon, WI, Mark E. (Jan) Futter of Fort Wayne, and Lisa A. (Don Lanham) Futter of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Andrew (Maggie) Futter, Emily Futter, Alex Futter, and Kelsey Futter; two great grandsons, Patrick and Michael; and her nephew, Wallace D. Simpson of Mishawaka.  Mrs. Futter is also survived by her five grand dogs whom she loved. 

Mrs. Futter was a longtime and active member of the First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka where she taught Sunday school and served as trustee.  She was active with the United Methodist Women and served on the Records and History committee of the church.  Mrs. Futter was a lifetime member and past President of the Bashor Children’s Home Auxiliary and Beiger Trust Chairman.  On June 2, 2001, Mrs. Futter received the Bread and Basin Award from the North Indiana United Methodist Conference, the highest award given  for laity.  Mrs. Futter served on the Board of Directors of PHD, Inc. in Fort Wayne where she was a shareholder.  She was a member of Morris Park Country Club where she was an avid golfer and tennis player.  Mrs. Futter was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, Class of 1944.  She was a quiet philanthropist passionate about helping people with her time, talent and treasure for which she will be long remembered.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Third Street, Mishawaka, IN.  Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church, as well as, during a luncheon following the service.  Private burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.  Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, South Bend, is assisting the family with arrangements.
