Marilyn S. Rhodes, 63, residing in South Bend, passed away at 12:30 pm Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She was born November 4, 1951 in Jackson, MI to Bernard C. and Betty I. (Boyce) Wernet. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard; her former husband, Robert Rhodes, Sr., one grandbaby, Riley Waite; and a brother, Bernard J. Wernet.

Marilyn is survived by her mother, Betty I. Wernet of Lowell, MI; daughter, Heather (Jason) Waite of South Bend; sons, Bob (Elicia) Rhodes of Granger and Justin (Katie Jolley) Rhodes of South Bend; five grandchildren, Payton, Hannah, Alexia, Robby and Benjamin; and her partner and companion, Ron Benham of South Bend. She is also survived by sisters, Kathy (Tom) Gustafson and Patricia (Marty) Susort, both of Petersburg, AK, and Barb (Tom) Will, Dorothy (Leo) Lammers, Mary Castle and Karen (Todd) Powers, all of Jackson, MI; brother, Rick (Shelly) Wernet of Lowell, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn graduated from Parkside High School in Jackson, MI and moved to the South Bend area in 1978. She was employed in retail with K’s Merchandise and the Notre Dame Bookstore, from which she retired.

Memorial services for Marilyn will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, April 13, 2015 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where friends may visit with the family two hours prior.
