Mark Jeffrey Kovacs

Mark J. Kovacs, age 59, passed away from a valiant battle with cancer on Friday, June 16, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on June 29, 1957, in South Bend, Indiana, to Richard and Gloria (Wrzesien) Kovacs.

He is preceded in death by his father Dick and sister Nancy. Mark is survived by his mother Gloria, his daughters Lindsey (Nick) DeCicco, Lauren Kovacs, his grandsons Ben and Rocco DeCicco, and his nephews Michael (Sarah) Carpenter and Kevin Loder and their children.

Mark lived his whole life in the South Bend area. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1975 and attended Purdue University. He was employed for many years at Ziker Cleaners, Concord Cleaners and Dollar Tree. Mark was an avid Indy 500 fan and hobbyist photographer. He was a self-proclaimed goofball. His kindness, laughter, and humor will be missed by many.  The family would like to thank Memorial Hospital and their staff for the excellent care they gave to Mark.

A memorial service will be held on June 20 at 2 p.m. at Palmer Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46614.  Friends may visit with the family an hour before the memorial.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family with arrangements.
