Mary E. Hitson

Mary E. Hitson, age 86, of South Bend, passed away at midnight, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Healthwin Hospital. She was born on October 16, 1928 in South Bend to the late Harold and Louise (Baldwin) Webb and has lived in this area all of her life. On June 12, 1948 in South Bend, she married Robert Hitson, who survives. Along with her beloved husband of 67 years, she is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Paul) Boger of Dowagiac, MI. She is preceded in death by her brother, Clinton Webb and a cousin, who was raised by her parents like a brother, Byron Tennison. In Mary’s early years she was a beautician. After marriage, in 1958, Mary and Robert owned and operated South Bend's first coin operated laundromat. They also owned and operated the Countree House Gifts retail shop for over thirty years. 
Funeral services for Mary will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 1 at the Palmer Funeral Home, Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635. Friends may gather with the family for one hour prior to services. Mary enjoyed cooking and loved to hostess her family and friends.
