Mary Jane Richardson

Mary Jane Richardson, 97, residing in South Bend, IN passed away at 5:15 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at Southfield Village.  She was born on September 3, 1915 in South Bend, IN, the daughter of Carl H. and Chloe Ann (Williams) Dunfee.  She enjoyed fifty-four years of marriage to Oren Charles Richardson until his passing on January 14, 1995.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Walter) Manderfield of Fremont, MI; granddaughter, Sarah (Charles) Mottashed of Marietta, GA and two great grandson, Alec and Andrew Mottashed.  She is also survived by nephews, Thomas P. (Gretchen) Dunfee, M.D. of Cedar, MI and Michael Dunfee of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, Michelle Dunfee of Lakewood, CO,  Cynthia A. (Efren) Sandoval and their children of Carmichael, CA and Stephany Dunfee, widow of nephew, Jack C. Dunfee Jr. of Lynnwood, WA.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Jack C. Dunfee and William H. Dunfee.

Mary Jane graduated from Riley High School in 1933 and was an active member of the Riley Lunch Bunch.  She was a registered nurse graduating from I.U. School of Nursing in 1938.  She was an honorary member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and was honored after fifty years of membership.  Mary Jane was a member of the former First Christian Church of South Bend where she was active in the Women's Fellowship and taught Sunday School.  She was currently a member of the South Side Christian Church.  She was a past officer of the Progress Club of South Bend.  Mary Jane enjoyed her family and friends.  She enjoyed knitting, playing bridge and euchre.  The family would like to thank the staff at Southfield Village for all their kindness, compassion and assistance over the years.  We are truly grateful.  God bless you all.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Southfield Village, 6450 Miami Circle, South Bend, IN.   Private Graveside services and burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend, IN is assisting the family.
