Maudie Lee Brown

Maudie Lee Brown, 89, peacefully passed away at her home in South Bend on Monday, January 8, 2018. Maudie was born on August 13, 1928 in Laurel, Mississippi to the late Jim and Willie Mae (Sanders) Johnson.

Maudie was a resident of South Bend for over 50 years, moving here from Indianapolis in the 1960’s. In August of 1974, Maudie was united in marriage for 38 wonderful years to Charles W. Brown, who preceded her in death on July 16, 2012.

Maudie is survived by her eight grandchildren: Timothy Stephens, Tony Sullivan, Kimberly Sullivan, Phillip Sullivan, Michelle Sullivan, Nichelle Dean, Rondell Dean and Miranda Dean.  Maudie is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Woods of South Bend and Dorothy French of San Diego, CA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Maudie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Sandra Jean Sullivan and Carla Ann Morris and two sons, Woodrow Sullivan and Gerald Maurice Dean.

A memorial service will be held for Maudie on Saturday, January 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 116 Birdsell St, South Bend. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to service at the church. Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
