Maxine Charlotte Praklet, 92, residing in Granger, passed away at 7:35 pm Sunday, August 18, 2013 in South Bend, at the home of her niece, Chryl Conley.  She was born January 1, 1921 in Mishawaka to the late Louis Tackels and Georgia (Lichty) Miller, and remained a lifelong area resident.
 
On July 19, 1941 Maxine married John J. Praklet, who preceded her in death on April 27, 1977.  She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Cary, DVM) Thompson of Rockford, IL; sons, Richard L. (Diana) Praklet of Lakeville and John R. (Janet) Praklet of Granger; grandchildren, Jim (Melanie) Praklet of Edwardsburg, MI, Mindy Thompson of Rockford, IL and Julie (Zac) Tiknis of Chicago, IL; and six great grandchildren.
 
Maxine was the oldest of eight children and lovingly known as the Peacekeeper of the Family.  She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters and is survived by her brother, Jack (Judith) Miller of South Bend.
 
Maxine worked for Uniroyal and Trinetics.  After retirement, she was very active at the Forever Learning Center in Mishawaka, where she enjoyed taking classes and making lifelong friendships.
 
There will be no public visitation. Private funeral services will be held for the immediate family in Riverview Mausoleum, South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
