Norma Jean Talboom

Norma Jean Talboom, 88, of South Bend, IN passed away at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 at Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 19, 1928 in Elkhart, IN to the late Merl and Mildred (Goss) George. On October 15, 1949 in Constantine, MI she married the love of her life, Gaston Talboom, who preceded her in death on May 16, 1977.

Norma is survived by her sons, Craig (Polly) Talboom of South Bend, IN and Scott Talboom of Flagstaff, AZ; daughter-in-law, Janice Talboom; three grandchildren, Carie (Aaron) Morgan, Cole Talboom and Travis Talboom; two great grandchildren, Rylee Talboom and Colette Morgan and brother, James George. She was preceded in death by son, Brian Talboom; grandson, Matthew Talboom; stepmother, Sylvia George and sister, Phyllis George.

Norma worked for 46 years as a registered nurse, and after retiring, she worked at the New Carlisle Public Library. She enjoyed traveling with her best friend and cousin, Lois, as well as watching NASCAR, golf and the Chicago Cubs. She was an excellent euchre and pinochle player.  She adored her three sons and family.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Norma Jean Talboom may be offered to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or to Broadway Christian Church,1412 Carroll St, South Bend, IN 46613.
